New District and Biking, May 10, 2021

Hey everyone!

Another week gone by, crazy. This past week we did a good amount of biking, to and from service and a lesson. It was good to get on the bikes and to just bike. We had a couple almost wipe-outs, glad that no one got hurt. Teaching was slow this week. We had a few lessons, not a ton though.

We have actually had some success in contacting people over facebook! We have been in contact with a few people that we have prayed with and have taught a little about what we believe. There is this one lady named Alyssa that Elder Winn found who we started messaging and it turns out she already had a Book of Mormon! Her Aunt gave it to her mom who then gave it to Alyssa, that was kinda cool to see. She hasn't read it yet but we are getting there.

3 out of the 6 members of my district are new. They are all great missionaries and it has been fun getting to know them. One of them actually came out the same time I did which is neat!

I hope you are all well!

6 Months and Transfers! May 2, 2021

Hello everyone!

This past week was good. We again had lots of service opportunities this week, we helped clean up at two different cemetery's and we also went and helped a ward member in another Elder's ward build a burm for a mountain bike course he is creating!

We had a couple great lessons with Leslie this past week, she is praying about the truthfulness of our church compared to hers, and she doesn't want to be rushed into making a choice. She loves reading from the Book of Mormon and coming to church when she can. We are hoping to make some more progress with her. She has an interest in family history, tonight we are meeting with her and a Sister in our ward who knows a lot about family history so that should be really good!

We have been trying to get out and talk to as many people as we can. We live pretty close to a nice park and we got out there often to talk to people. This past week we had a couple really great conversations with people. I am still definitely trying to work on talking to people. It can be nerve racking for sure.

This week I hit my 6 month mark. That is crazy to me, time has flown so fast. These past 6 months have not been easy and I know they will continue to try me and change me, learning and adapting is hard but I know it will be worth it in the end. Transfer news came in last night. Elder Winn and I are staying together for another transfer! I am excited for that, I am looking forward to this new transfer.

Oh yeah, last p-day we went to the Arch again, we didn't go up because it was booked but we got to check out the museum, the Arch is so amazing!

Hope you are all doing well! Elder Spencer

Exchanges! April 26, 2021

Wow I can't believe it's already another p-day!

This week went by very quickly! We got lots more service in this week. We helped move some boxes around and we also helped clear out some flower beds for another lady. We had a great lesson with Leslie!! She is finding out more and and more of the truthfulness of our church! It is great to see things starting to click for her. We did have a sad moment though, we usually meet with her twice a week but she couldn't meet this past week because she for sick! That was a bummer.

We had exchanges this week with our Zone Leaders, I always enjoy them. I got to go with the ZL to his area. They are also YSA so I got to go no tie for the day! It felt kinda weird but I liked it. Other then that our week was filled with meetings and Finding. It can be a tough work at times.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! Elder Spencer

Service and a Banana Tree? April 19, 2021

Hello everyone, hope you all have had a great week!

This week we had a lot of service! We helped someone move their elderly mother into a retirement home, we helped clean trim some grass at a cemetery and we also helped one member plant a banana tree! It was pretty big. Apparently banana trees can grow here that was cool to find out! We also helped another member build a shed! Today we had a Zone P-day activity, we went to an open field and played some kickball.

Teaching wise this week was really slow, our teaching pool is small, we are hoping to do more work with the members in the upcoming weeks!

Well that's all for now, sorry it's such a short one again!

Vaccines and Finding, April 12 2021

Hello everyone!

This week was a little tough, it went kinda slow. We have been doing lots of finding as our teaching pool is pretty small right now and finding can try your patience at times.

We had some success, we were able to give out two Book of Mormons and we were able to send out a few facebook videos that people will hopefully get back to us on!

As for the vaccine, every missionary in our mission got the first dose of the vaccine on Friday. I was pretty grateful for that. I was a little worried that it might make us sick but we are feeling great.

Don't have to much else to say from this week, sorry it isn't too long of an email!

I'm hoping for a faster paced more eventful week ahead!

Hope you all have a great week!

Conference and Service April 5, 2021

Hello everyone!

This week went by pretty quickly.

General Conference weekends are always great. This past one was pretty unique, my first Conference on the mission.

For Conference we got to spend the night at another Elders apartment, that was pretty fun! One of my favorite talks was President Nelson's about developing faith in Jesus Christ. This is something I am trying to develop more of, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We got to do some service at the Temple again this week, along with other service for a ward member. A ward member who we taught for awhile and kept in contact with for the past few months passed away this past week which was very sudden and sad. We attended a memorial for him this past week. It was quite touching and I learned of how great of a person he was while on earth. It made me think of how important our time here is.

Anyways I hope all is going well with you all!

Welcome, Elder Winn! March 29, 2021

Hello everyone!

This past week has been crazy. A lot has happened!

Elder Hales got transferred to a place called Missouri River, I miss him already. My new companion is Elder Winn! He is from Orem, Utah and he has the same birthday as me and Will! He is full of energy and has a strong desire to be a good missionary!

The first few days were quite the adventure, we did a good amount of biking and we even had a few good conversations with some people! This change as really forced me into a situation I feel new at and it has scared me a bit. I have hope that I can adjust and do better.

We had a couple lessons with Leslie this past week. They went pretty well. Elder Winn has a strong testimony and has just dove into this work. He is striving to do what is right and it is great to see.

Missionary work is not always easy, I am seeing that now as I am going through a pretty hard time, but just as life gets difficult I know it will get better if I continue to do the small and simple things!

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some warmer weather!

Bye Elder Hales :(

Welcome, Elder Winn!
