Hello everyone!
Today for p-day we got togther as a Zone and played volleyball, card games and a little basketball. It was great to relax after the week we had.
This past week was pretty good. We had a mission conference which went well, I learned a lot about drawing closer to our Savior Jesus Christ.
I have been thinking a lot lately about how important it is to make Christ the centre of our life. Without His love and the Holy Ghost to guide us it is hard to know where to turn for peace. I am so grateful for all of you, family and friends, who have helped me learn and grow. I am grateful for the experinces I have had so far out on the mission.
Not going to lie, the last couple days of this week were a little rough. Saturday and Sunday were tough. Elder Hales and I were just feeling a little burned out. We were feeling a little tired, something just didn't feel right and we couldn't figure it out.
That all changed after we had a phone call with the Sisters in our district. One of the sisters, Sister Kearsly, said something that really stood out to me and helped me break out of the mood I was in. She reminded us of the message we share, it is a joyful, peacefilled message. When she said this my mind turned back to the times I have shared the gospel. I couldn't help but smile and I was filled with peace. She was right. This is a joyful message!
It is hard to keep a happy, positive attitude all the time, espeically when things don't seem to be going your way. I know it can be a challenge I need to work on it all the time. Something that helps is focusing on times when the Lords hand has been in our lives. A scripture I read this week that relates to this is Ether 3:5 it says: "Behold, O Lord, thou canst do this. We know that thou art able to show forth great power, which looks small unto the understanding of men." The Lord's hand in our lives is sometimes hard to find. Like the scripture says it seems small in our eyes. Sometimes I wonder "Why doesn't the Lord just show me excatly what to do" I have learned that paitence is important, I know the Lord is in the details of our lives, He knows what is going on. We need to put our trust in Him to truly find peace. Although it may seem small in our eyes, those times can make all the difference in our lives, I challenge you all to focus on how God's hand is revealed in your life this week and write it down so you don't forget!
Some exciting things that happened this week. One night we were driving back to our apartment and we almost ran over a possum. It dodged us and ran back into some bushes, it was huge and I wished I got a photo of it. I also made poutine for Elder Hales and I. It was great. For my American family and friends who don't know what poutine is I will quickly explain. It is fries drowned in gravy, topped with cheese, very good!
Elder Spencer
